Day Stay & Respite Care

Rangiura provides a number of day support options both within the Care Home environment and our Secure Dementia Unit.  There is a planned month by month activity calendar with organised outings to various locations in the local area.  All of our day support is overseen by our Diversional Therapy Coordinator and our Clinical Nurse Leader.

Day support is not available on Public Holidays and usually operates between the hours of 9 am and 4 pm Monday to Friday.  Pick up and drop off is provided with a 14 km radius of the Home.  If you live outside this area separate arrangements can be made but this will incur a charge. We have a separate quiet area designated for day support if people wish to relax.

  • Palliative Care – We offer specialist care and support for people with terminal illness.
  • Physiotherapy

We have a registered physiotherapist who provides a large range of services including rehabilitation, mobility, pain management and exercise classes. Rangiura also provides access to a wide range of mobility aids.

  • Hairdresser available by appointment only. Additional charge.
  • Meals on Wheels – available week day, upon request and additional charge applies.

  • Funerals
  • Podiatry – A podiatrist attends once a month, 

General Information

If you have been referred to Rangiura by a Needs Assessment Agency for either day support or respite support you will have undergone an assessment.

  • Day support referred by the Needs Assessment   Agency – no cost.
  • Respite care referred by the Needs Assessment Agency – may incur extra cost if the level of   support required is greater than the generic  referral and the room type available.  This will be discussed with you on application for respite
  • Private arrangements can be made on request

Rangiura provide day support 49 weeks per year and respite support 52 weeks per year. There is a maximum of 16 places for our Day Support programme. Respite support is by arrangement & availability.
