Rangiura Charitable Trust Board was formed in 1975 following the South Waikato’s Districts desire to build a Residential Home for the elderly. The land for the home was generously donated by the late Wally and Dot Grey and the local community then fundraised a significant amount to enable the Home to be constructed debt free. In 1981 a 30 bed rest home was proudly opened. Due to increasing demand for Services Rangiura has continued to develop and we now have the capacity to support up to 80 residents on site. In 2010 Fern Haven House, our Memory Support Unit opened and in 2015 a further expansion of the main Rest home was completed. A further two phases are planned going into the future. Throughout this period we also established a thriving Village and now have 85 villas.
Rangiura is extremely fortunate to have had the continuous support of the South Waikato Community over the years and has remained the leading aged care provider in the district due to these community connections and generous input of individuals and groups alike. Our dedication to providing both a homelike and caring environment, coupled with a professional clinical service ensures our residents are supported in a truly holistic manner.
The Board of Trustees is made up of volunteers from in and around the local area and includes representatives from Pride in Putaruru, Lions Club, Rotary Club, Church groups, local business people, the current Mayor of the South Waikato plus two previous Mayors, one of whom, Mr Jim Howland, is our Patron.
Eden in OZ and NZ
Rangiura is an Eden registered home. The Eden Alternative is an approach to care that recognizes the importance of treating a person’s heart as well as the body. While we do our best to heal bodies we must feed the soul.
Edenizing is not so much a destination but a journey. We travel life together making it more worthwhile for our residents and the staff providing the care.
Eden principles are combating loneliness, helplessness and boredom thus reducing most of the suffering experienced by our elders or residents in Aged care through the Eden Alternative. For more information on Eden click on the link. EDEN IN OZ
